New Employee Orientation

Welcome to the University of California, Merced and to New Employee Orientation!

Overview

To help with your onboarding and gain important information about your new campus community, the UC Merced offers a New Employee Orientation* (NEO). Offered regularly, NEO provides introduction and critical connections for your onboarding experience. Please be sure to confirm your scheduled date and location with your hiring manager.

Direct supervisors are invited and encouraged to attend, participate and partner with their new employee during the in-person orientation. New staff members are expected to attend NEO within the first 60 days* of starting employment with UC Merced.

*NEO is mandatory for all newly hired non-faculty, non-academic, non-student staff and registration is required. New staff members are expected to attend NEO within the first 60 days of starting employment with UC Merced. Typically, NEO is required of any contract employees with a term of 12 months or greater. However, given that there are new policies, procedures and mandated training requirements – in this current climate of COVID responses, remote work and other campus changes – we require that ALL new employees attend to get the relevant and required information needed for all UC Merced Campus community.


To Register, please:

  1. Log in to the UC Learning Center, and 
  2. Search for “NEO” or find it in the catalog under “New Employee Orientation.”

If you are unable to register through the UC Learning System please send an e-mail to hrtraining@ucmerced.edu.  Attending NEO does not require registration through the UC Learning System.  Advance notice is required for represented employees; please contact Human Resources prior to orientation.
