UC-Paid Short-Term Basic Disability Insurance
The Short-Term Disability Plan is paid by the University of California and all eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the plan.  The plan pays 55% of salary up to $800 per month for up to 6 months for qualifying claims.

Voluntary Short-Term and/or Long-Term Disability Insurance
The Voluntary Disability Plan is a voluntary plan that supplements the Short-Term Disability Plan. To have this extra financial benefit, you pay the cost of Voluntary Short-Term and/or Long-Term Disability. The plan provides up to 60% of your eligible earnings, to a maximum benefit of $15,000 per month.

Short-Term only - You'll be covered after a 14-day waiting period, but only for up to six months. You'll need to use up to 22 sick days, if you have them, before benefits begin. See the Voluntary Short-Term Disability Benefits Summary for information about this plan.
