Overview
The Leadership Now? program offers our current UC Merced personnel an opportunity to actively explore the readiness and development pathway to achieving their career goals as a prospective leader. This program provides self-reflection, discussion, and shared input from current leaders on transitioning to leadership; growth and competency needs; experiences with becoming a leader; and a plan for moving forward as you consider supervision.
About the Program
This single half-day program prepares participants to answer for themselves:
- Am I ready to seek a leadership position right now?
- If not, where/how can I develop myself in so that I am ready to seek a leader role?
- If leadership is not for me, what can I do to continue to grow my career?
Leadership Now? offers our campus community members:
- Understanding of the leadership role (transition, managing vs leading, etc.)
- Development guidance and opportunities
- Introduction to campus leaders from across departments, divisions, and units
Through this course you will develop the following skills:
- Strategic Thinking – Develop a vision of where you want to be and see yourself going
- Planning & Delivery – How to achieve your vision and dealing with challenges
- People Management – Finding the right people and motivation them towards your vision
- Change Management – Recognizing and responding to changes to your vision and plans
- Communication – How to best communicate your vision to others and listening to ideas.
