New Employee Orientation
At the new employee orientation, you will gain valuable information to help you embark on a successful career at UC Merced. Presenters from across the campus will familiarize you with the university and the many resources available to staff. All newly hired staff should attend. Long time employees are also welcome to attend. This Orientation is not designed for student employees.

Please note that you have 31 days from your start date to enroll in benefits!  This “Period of Initial Eligibility” is commonly referred to as your “PIE”. Enroll online by signing in to UCPath.

Cat Card
The CatCard is the official UC Merced identification card.  All students, faculty and staff affiliated with the University need to carry the CatCard for identification.  The CatCard features a digitized photo, SmartChip and magnetic stripe.  Learn more about the CatCard and its multiple uses by visiting the CatCard website.

Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC)
Students and faculty, staff and community members can access early care and education options for children age 6 weeks through preschool.  The center is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs.  Please visit the center’s website for additional information.

IT Help Desk
The UC Merced Information Technology (UCMIT) Help Desk provides UC Merced Faculty, Students and Staff with customer service and support for computer hardware and software. The IT Help Desk is the first step in obtaining support; whether it is for UCMNetID password requests, email configurations, computer hardware failures, classroom technology questions or any other IT related issues. If you ever need IT assistance just dial HELP (4357) or email helpdesk@ucmerced.edu. UC Merced Connect
UC Merced Connect is the central digital gateway to the university. It provides simplified access to campus resources, applications, announcements and information. It also is where you will claim your UCMNetID, which is required for all UCM systems access. Your UCMNetID also works as your email/password.

Parking Permit
Parking Permits are required for all vehicles parked on campus. To learn more about parking permit costs and requirements visit the Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) website.

Time Reporting
UC Merced employees can submit their timesheets in one of two systems, the Time Reporting System (TRS) or the Payroll Time Reporting System (PTR). The majority of UC Merced employees use TRS while FUPOA – Dispatchers and SETC - Skilled Trade use PTR. Academic employees (including but not limited to Lecturers, Graduate Student, Post-Doctoral), please consult with the Academic Personnel about your time keeping requirements, if applicable.
