Campus employees who are members of the Anthem PPO plans ( CORE, UC Care and UC Health Savings Plan) and Anthem Medicare plans (UC Medicare PPO w/ and without Rx), may continue to use services provided by Dignity Health providers at in-network coverage levels as Dignity and Anthem continue to pursue a contract agreement.
The University of California announced Monday that claims retroactive to July 15 will be processed after Sept. 1, regardless of whether a contract agreement is reached. Members will be responsible for in-network cost-sharing.
UC will ensure that costs above the in-network rates are covered for claims made from July 15 through the date an agreement is reached or Dec. 31, 2021, whichever occurs first. UC PPO plan members will not be responsible for charges billed above in-network allowed amounts incurred during that time period.
If no contract agreement is reached, as of Jan. 1, 2022 Dignity Health providers and facilities will be considered out-of-network and members will be responsible for charges above the allowed amounts. For UC PPO plan members, this means any care through Dignity providers after Dec. 31, 2021 would be billed at out-of-network rates and the patient will be responsible for the higher costs for care.
Changes to medical plans are allowed only during Open Enrollment for 2022. Covered employees will have the opportunity to change medical plans during this year’s Open Enrollment. Open Enrollment begins on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021 and ends at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19. Confirmed Open Enrollment elections become effective Jan. 1, 2022. While most Dignity Health providers are in the UC Blue & Gold HMO network, prior to changing plans employees should verify they live or work in the HMO service area and their provider is participating in the Health Net network. Employees may visit the Health Net website for this information.
