Dear Division of Finance and Administration Colleagues,
Getting health care in Merced is a challenge. Medical providers and specialists are in short supply, which mean limited choices. Even if care can be found, there often are long waits for appointments.
A solution is within our reach. UC Merced, in collaboration with UC Health, is working on a plan to open a clinic that would provide health care to university employees.
A crucial part of this plan is understanding the health needs of the UC Merced community. That’s why I invite you to complete this survey. It will give planners a profile of the health care you needed and received over the past 12 months. The survey, for example, asks whether you’ve seen general-care doctors, specialists and nurse practitioners. It also asks how far you travel to receive care, and how you would rate your providers.
The UC Merced Employee Healthcare Needs Survey requires only about 10 minutes to complete. Strong participation in the survey is a critical component in the development of the clinic plan. UC Merced and UC Health need a deep, well-rounded understanding of the campus community’s experiences in and opinions toward health care.
Please complete the survey by Thursday, Oct. 29. On behalf of university Director of Medical Education Thelma Hurd, thank you for doing your part to help make UC Merced a better and healthier place.
