Internal Audit Mentorship Program Details

Length

The mentee will participate on an audit project. This will include the preliminary risk assessment of the area being audited, the audit testing, and the reporting of results. Other projects, such as the annual audit risk assessment, will also be considered.

The duration of projects is usually two to three months. The mentee will participate on the project around one day per week.

Compensation

Employees will not receive additional compensation for participating in the program.

Location

Internal Audit is located in the Mondo Building. Audit work is also completed in the department being audited, so the location will vary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth analyses
  • Assess business processes
  • Identify opportunities to enhance university’s efficiency
  • Identify risks and work with employees to find solutions
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Be willing to learn about policies, procedures, and systems

Who will be eligible as a Mentee?

Non-represented and represented staff members are eligible to become a mentee. A business or accounting background is not required. A minimum of one year’s work experience in the University setting would be helpful. Additionally, employees must meet the following requirements to be eligible for Professional Development activities:

  • Completion of the probationary period, if required and
  • Job performance that is rated as satisfactory or better

What is required to join the program?

  • Complete the relevant Intel Form Application and follow the steps to join the program
  • Attend a mandatory one-on-one orientation with the Director of Internal Audit
