Flu Reporting

 Flu Reporting

Employees

If you feel sick:

·        Faculty and staff who have flu-like symptoms of a fever of 100°F or higher, cough or sore throat, should stay home during the period in which they are contagious to avoid making others sick.  Symptoms may also include a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue, diarrhea or vomiting.  Faculty and staff are urged to contact their primary care provider by phone rather than dropping by their physician’s office.

·        Staff with flu-like symptoms should communicate directly with their supervisor in the same manner they would for any other illness.

When should you return to work?

·        Remain at home, except to get medical care or other necessities, until your fever has been gone for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

Managers and/or Supervisors:

·        All employee absences (including student workers) due to flu-like symptoms should be reported to Human Resources by calling 228-2348 (Cat-BFit) or by emailing hcf@ucmerced.edu.  Employee absences for Flu-Like Symptoms, probable H1N1 or Confirmed H1N1 are reported to UCOP weekly.
